Hale Kukui Orchard Wedding: Jessica & Martin's Big Island Celebration

Jessica and Martin planned a Big Island wedding with a ceremony at Hale Kukui Orchard, the clifftop Hamakua coast venue overlooking Waipiʻo Valley, and a garden reception at Pu'uwai Gardens. Family and friends crossed the ocean to celebrate with them.

Jessica described the day best: “Big island, big feels — a holy matreo-mony indeed, married my best friend. 10/10, no notes.”

Their ceremony took place at Hale Kukui Orchard, a clifftop venue on the Hamakua coast with a lawn that looks straight down the Waipiʻo Valley cliffs to the ocean. Green lawn, open sky, and that sweeping valley view set the scene for the start of their marriage.

From ceremony to reception at Pu'uwai Gardens

After the vows, the celebration continued at Pu'uwai Gardens, a nearby open-air garden farm venue. Two venues means two locations to move a full guest list through, plus a vendor team supporting both. That’s the behind-the-scenes work a Big Island wedding planner handles, so the couple can stay present with their people instead of managing logistics.

At the reception, the details felt personal: a hand-lettered bar menu with the couple’s signature cocktails, a simple white cake finished with orchids, and a garden dinner among the palms.

The vendor team behind the day

A celebration like this is a team effort. Mahalo to every vendor who made Jessica and Martin’s wedding personal and seamless:

“Sandra at Big Island Elopements is a breath of fresh air! From our very first conversation, she made us feel loved, seen, and truly excited about our wedding. She puts so much heart into what she does, and that care shines through every step of the way.

Planning an intimate wedding on the Big Island from California felt daunting, especially as a first-time bride and groom who had no idea where to begin. Sandra made the entire experience feel effortless, from planning to the wedding day. Through unlimited communication, frequent video calls, and countless emails, she listened to our ideas and brought our vision to life. I felt practically stress-free knowing we were in her hands!

She handled vendor inquiries, helped us navigate our budget, and even assisted with booking our marriage license appointment. Having someone so thoughtful, organized, and involved made all the difference when planning from afar.

On our wedding day, Sandra made us feel so cared for and allowed us to be fully present, soaking in every moment with each other and our loved ones. It was everything we had hoped for and more—a day we will treasure forever.

Sandra, our photographer Kris, and the entire team were incredible. We cannot recommend Big Island Elopements highly enough! Thank you for putting so much love into our celebration and giving us such a beautiful start to married life!”
